Insurances
Christian Super offers a range of insurance options to protect you and your dependants in case of the unexpected.
Death insurance provides a lump sum benefit to your dependants in the event of your death.
Disablement insurance provides a lump sum benefit to you if you become totally and permanently disabled.
Income protection insurance provides you with a regular monthly benefit in the event that you are temporarily unable to work.
For full information about your Insurance Options, please see our Member Guide. Insurance cover is provided in units, and premiums reflect your age and occupation.
You are able to apply to change your level of insurance cover at any time. Any increased insurance will need to be approved by our insurers before it is provided, and you may be asked to provide evidence of health.
It is important that your Occupation Group accurately reflects your occupation. If your classification is incorrect, your insurance claim may be jeopardised.
If your employer uses us as their default fund, you will receive a certain level of insurance automatically. If you do not wish to have this insurance, you will need to advise us in writing that you do not require cover. You may wish to use our sample notice.
It is important that your Occupational Group accurately reflects your occupation. If your classification is incorrect, your insurance claim may be jeopardised. If you have more than one occupation, or your job involves activities from more than one group category, you should select the group that represents your primary occupation.
If you have any questions about your Occupation Group, please contact our Helpdesk.
Group 1 - Executives and senior white collar workers who typically possess university qualifications and do not perform any manual work (eg lawyer, doctor, solicitor, accountant, headmaster, school business manager).
Group 2 - Qualified community professionals, clerical or administrative white collar workers who do not perform any manual work or sales people not involved in deliveries (eg. teacher, clergy, social worker, administrative or office worker, receptionist, personal assistant, travel consultant, home duties).
Group 3 - Skilled technicians and blue collar workers in non-hazardous industries who are involved in light manual work (eg jeweller, computer technician, shop assistant, waiter, nurse, bus driver). Also includes supervisors of blue collar workers provided that no more than 10% of their time is spent performing heavy manual work, and fully qualified tradespeople.
Group 4 - Skilled or semi-skilled manual workers and heavy machinery operators who are not exposed to high-risk accidents or health hazards (eg cleaner, gardener, mechanic, storeman).
Insurance cover is not available to unskilled blue collar workers and high risk occupations (eg miner, pilot). No cover is available to overseas workers. Cover is generally not available while permanently residing or working overseas.
Some high-risk occupations may not be covered by Christian Super’s insurers.
