Making Contributions

Your Contributions

There are a number of ways you may contribute to your superannuation.  Different types of contributions have different tax implications - you may wish to visit our Superannuation Tax page for further information.  If you are looking for information about how you can make contributions to Christian Super, please visit our Contributions page.

Employer Contributions

Your employer may make contributions on your behalf.  These can include compulsory SG contributions, salary sacrifice contributions and any additional contributions your employer may make.

Government Co-contributions

You are able to make voluntary contributions at any time, either as after-tax contributions or as salary sacrifice contributions made by your employer on your behalf.  To make an after-tax contribution, simply fill out a Member Contribution Form (167kB).  If you wish to make salary sacrifice contributions, you will need to talk to your employer.

Some after tax contributions may make you eligible for the Government Co-contribution.  To be eligible for the Co-contribution you must:

  • Earn less than $58,000 a year before tax
  • Be an Australian citizen
  • Be less than 71 years old
  • Lodge an income tax return for the relevant year

Eligible members who earn less than $28,000 each year are eligible for the full Government Co-contribution of $1,500 for a contribution of $1,000.  Above this income threshold, the maximum Co-contribution reduces by $1 for each $20 earned.  Contact our Helpdesk for more information.

The government has a booklet that will help you understand how the co-contributions works  http://www.ato.gov.au/distributor.asp?doc=/content/content/47264.htm
