Thanks for another succinct, yet informative edition of ’Member News’.
I wish to specifically articulate my delight in reading the main article about not profiting from alcohol investment. I have often struggled to reconcile this exact ethical position, which I thoroughly agree with.
In fifteen years of living in Australia, I have struggled to find such like-minded thinking. This was not due to a lack of Christian contacts, but for lack of any contacts, Christian or otherwise, who would even give a moment’s consideration to the concept of ethical decision-making and investment! The other side of the problem is that the few people who might have held claim to some form of Biblical ethics against alcohol were usually articulating an anti-alcohol cultural tradition without reference to any Biblical basis, let alone a serious consideration of the associated biological or social phenomena.
I am excited about Christian Super being a leading partner of the UN Investment Principles charter.
I also wish to thank you for the ongoing practice of clear, transparent reporting of the organisation’s financial position.
Call me a ’baby’ but my emotions are telling me to cry with relief at being a member of an organisation whose values I can trust and support without having to ’do battle’ with every page of information! I said to my wife: with this organisation I find, for the first time in my life, people whom I might actually call ’allies’.
I thank you, and I thank God. I have again asked of God, with full confidence, that Christian Super be blessed with His providence and protection for as long as its leaders continue to honour Him in their decision-making.
