Our Trustee

Christian Super (ABN 66 628 776 348) is an Australia domiciled superannuation fund and is established as a Regulated Fund under the SIS legislation.

In keeping with legislation a corporate Trustee has been established - Christian Super Pty Limited (ABN 68 065 040 619 ACN 065 040 619). The Fund is licensed with the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA), (License Number L0000918) and the Trustee is registered under the APRA requirements (Registration Number R1004137).

The Trustee operates the Fund in accordance with a Trust Deed. Copies of the Fund’s Trust Deed are available on request from the National Office.

Employers and members are equally represented on the Trustee board. The Trustee operates the National Office to coordinate the Fund’s management and development activities. External service providers have been appointed to handle the Fund’s investment, insurance and administration activities.

All Trustee Directors undertake ongoing education and training relevant to their duties. Currently, the Board includes the following:


Mark Spencer (Chairman)

Qualifications: BBus (Accounting & Computing), M.Lab. Rel. & Law, FCA, JP. Member of Aust. & NZ Education Law Assn, and formerly Registered Tax Agent.

Work: Mark currently works as a Director (School Administration Support) at Christian Schools Australia, and has also worked in accounting, business and computer consulting.

Trustee: Mark has been a sponsor representative since February 1998. He has strong technical expertise (including accounting and law) as well as a sound knowledge of the organisation.

Fund Objectives: Mark sees Christian Super as providing a high quality and distinctly Christian approach to superannuation and investment.

Fund Responsibilities: New Chairman from May 2009 and Chair of Board Governance Committee. Previously the Fund Secretary and Chair of Audit and Compliance Committee.


Tony Deenick (Deputy Chairman)

Qualifications: BSc (Geology & Geophysics), MEd.

Work: Tony has been semi-retired since 2007, but he currently works part time as a NSW State Executive Officer for Christian Parent Controlled Schools and as an education consultant. Previously, Tony has also worked as Principal of Covenant Christian School NSW, National Director of CPCS, a teacher at various schools and as a board members at Christian schools.

Trustee: Tony has been a sponsor representative since June 1995 and has a good understanding of priorities and concerns through his long-term involvement in Christian school movements.

Fund Objectives: Tony envisions Christian Super as fund that provides for the future financial needs of members so that they can serve the Lord with confidence.

Fund Responsibilities: New Deputy Chairman from July 2011. Chair of Ethics Committee, Member of Investment Committee.

Qualifications: FCA, BBus, Cert Gov, MACEL, JP

Work: Paul is a Partner at Resolve Consulting Chartered Accountants and serves on the Board of a number of Christian organisations.

Trustee: Paul has been a member representative since April 2011. Paul was also a sponsor representative from 1998 to 2003.

Fund Objectives: Paul's focus is to provide excellent returns to members to enable them to have a purposeful retirement with all aspects of the Fund in accorudance with Christian values.

Fund Responsibilities: Member of the Board Governance Committee.

Qualifications: GradDipCM, FIPA, FCIS, F Fin.

Work: Neville is currently the Chairman of AMP Bank Board, Chairman Advertiles Corporation, Chairman of Work Ventures, Chairman Focus on the Family Australia. Member of Conference Executive Church of Christ, NSW.

Trustee: Neville has been a sponsor representative since March 2008. Neville brings a broad range of financial services expertise.

Fund Objectives: Neville's focus is to see Christian Super optimise the return to members over time in the context of a Christian perspective.

Fund Responsibilities: Chair of the Investment Committee.

Qualifications: BCom, Chartered Accountant

Work: Tim is a partner of the Melbourne based Chartered Accountants, Saward Dawson where his primary focus has been growing the audit and assurance team. He joined the firm in 1999.

Trustee: Tim has been a sponsor representative since July 2008

Fund Objectives: To see Christian Super as the superannuation product of choice for each Jesus follower in Australia.

Fund Responsibilities: Member of Investment Committee and Ethics Committee.

Qualifications: B Com, FFin, JP.  Member of AICD & AIM.

Work: Ross currently works as Manager at Rabobank Australia. Previously he has worked as Head of Finance, Property & Administration at St George Christian School. 

Trustee: Ross has been a member representative since April 2008.

Fund Objectives: Ross hopes to see Christian Super become the number one fund choice for Christians, while remaining distinctly Christian, providing quality service at a reasonable cost, and encouraging the Christian sector to cooperate more closely.

Fund Responsibilities: Member of Board Governance Committee and Audit & Compliance Committee.

Qualifications: Dip Av, MAICD

Work: John is the Chief Executive Officer of Christian Community Ministries and a director of the Stewards Foundation.

Trustee: John has been a member representative since April 2011.

Fund Objectives: John is keen to see the Fund maximise its returns to members by taking a balanced yet distinctly Christian approach to investments.

Fund Responsibilities: Member of the Audit & Compliance Committee.


Graeme Mitchell

Qualifications: FCA (Chartered Accountant), FCIS, Chartered Secretary, JP.

Work: Chief Executive Officer at Baptist Investments & Finance Limited. Graeme has worked previously as the company secretary of Baptist Community Services in NSW & ACT, and as a chartered accountant. He has also held honorary positions as Director of Baptist Business College Limited and Secretary/Treasurer of Baptist Foundation of New South Wales Limited.

Trustee: Graeme has been a member representative since the merge of Funds in April 2003, and was previously a Trustee of the Australian Baptist Retirement Fund.

Fund Objectives: Graeme would like to see the fund help members maximise retirement, superannuation and insurance benefits, as well as to be the fund of choice for Christians and organisations involved in Christian ministry.

Fund Responsibilities: Member of Investment Committee and Audit & Compliance Committee.
