What insurance arrangements are available?

While superannuation is the core of what we do, we also provide excellent insurance and pension products to help equip you for your future. Cover is available for Income Protection and Death & Total Permanent Disability (TPD).

Income Protection

You may apply for Income Protection cover, and choose your level of cover. Income Protection cover provides a regular monthly income of up to 75% of your gross salary should you become ill or injured.

Eligibility
You are generally eligible for Income Protection payments if you are:

  • Unable to perform at least one income producing duty of your normal occupation;
  • Under the regular care of, and following the advice of, a medical practitioner; and
  • Not working in any paid or unpaid occupation.

If you joined Christian Super before 28 February 2013, Income Protection cover commenced from your first day at work (if your employer uses Christian Super as their default fund) or from the day cover is approved by the Fund’s Insurer.

If you joined Christian Super from 1 March 2013 your cover commences from that date, regardless of your employer. You may be asked to provide evidence of health.

Income Protection cover ends if:

  • you cease to work at least 15 hours per week
  • your superannuation benefit in Christian Super is transferred or paid out
  • your account balance reduces to nil
  • you reach age 70

Cover may be restricted if you commence active service with the armed forces or in certain overseas locations, and you may be required to return to Australia after you make a claim. For further information about restrictions, please contact our Member Care Centre or read our Member Insurance Guide for more details.

Death & TPD

You may elect to have Death & TPD cover or Death only cover. You may choose how much cover you have, subject to restrictions by our Insurer. Premiums for your insurance cover are deducted, at wholesale rates, from your Christian Super account.

All members joining after1 March 2013 will receive 3 units of Death & Total & Permanent Disability Insurance.

When You are Covered
