On Monday the 14th of July 2021, we turned on Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for your online MemberAccess account. We’ve created a list of frequently asked questions to help you prepare for this change.
What is MFA?
MFA is a process that requires an individual to provide additional information before they can log in to certain websites or apps. It provides an additional layer of security to help protect people from any unauthorised login attempts to their account.
Why are we turning on MFA?
MFA is becoming increasingly common as a way to help reduce potential fraudulent activity. Many people build up a significant balance in their superannuation account, and MFA will add an additional layer of security.
How does MFA work?
Once MFA is activated, you will need to register for your preferred authentication method before you can log in to your online MemberAccess account. You will be prompted to register for either ‘SMS One Time Passcode’ or ‘Google Authenticator’. Then simply follow the prompts to complete your registration.
Once you have registered for MFA, you will either receive a unique One Time Password as an SMS or a code via the Google Authenticator app, each time you log in to your online account.
Do I need to do anything to get ready for MFA?
Please make sure that your mobile number is correct in your Christian Super online MemberAccess account before the 5th of July, otherwise you may not be able to access your online account once MFA is activated.
What if I don’t have a mobile number?
You can still access your online account if you register for the Google Authenticator option. You do not need to have a mobile number to use the Google Authenticator app, but you will need a smart device such as a tablet.
What if I only have an international mobile number?
International mobile numbers are not compatible with the SMS One Time Passcode authentication process. However, you can use Google Authenticator from anywhere in the world.
How do I use Google Authenticator?
When you select the Google Authenticator option, the next screens will provide prompts to step you through this process.
Can I use Google Authenticator if I don’t have a smart device?
No. This is because Google Authenticator will require a camera on your smart device to scan a QR code during the set up process. If you only have a laptop and are unable to download the Google Authenticator app, please contact our Member Care Team.
Will I need to use MFA to log into the Christian Super app?
No. MFA is only being switched on for your online MemberAccess account.

In September 2020, we notified our members that we were going to turn on MFA however the launch was postponed due to a technical issue.
